At Katünaa, we work directly with artisans across Colombia to create pieces that blend timeless techniques with modern design. From natural fique fiber to woven yute and delicate copper accents, each piece tells a story rooted in cultural heritage and creativity.

This is the opposite of fast fashion or factory made home goods. Every detail, from material to form, is intentional. And it always comes with a story behind it! From where the fiber was grown, to how it was dyed and with what plants, to the different techniques and time it takes for a person to make the piece you’re taking home. Sometimes, the design we had in mind just doesn’t work with a specific fiber, so we get creative and see what does work.
That’s what makes handmade so powerful.
Colombia is rich in natural materials like fique, yute, and werregue, each with its own texture and character. We design at our Katünaa offices, and our artisans transform these into beautiful, high end home decor pieces: think elegant placemats, natural baskets, and statement objects for the home. By combining these materials with modern forms and palettes, we create decor that fits seamlessly into contemporary spaces, while keeping a deep connection to Colombian identity.
Our mission is rooted in sustainability. We work with materials that are eco-friendly, biodegradable, and locally sourced. (Except copper which even though is not biodegradable, it can be recycled repeatedly without losing it`s properties, making it sustainable and durable) Many of our pieces are made in small batches to avoid overproduction and reduce waste.
For us, sustainable home decor means honoring the earth as much as the hands that shape each piece! It’s about creating lasting beauty, ethically.
